Niyamgiri Hill Turmeric is a rare, Lakadong-grade haldi grown deep in the forested hill tracts of the Niyamgiri mountain range, spanning Rayagada and Kalahandi districts of Odisha. These biodiverse hills — home to the Dongria Kondh tribe — have nurtured turmeric cultivation for centuries using traditional farming knowledge passed down through generations.
Unlike mass-produced turmeric, Niyamgiri Hill Turmeric grows in mineral-rich, red-laterite soils at high altitudes, under natural rainfall and forest shade. This unique agro-climatic combination results in rhizomes with a naturally higher curcumin content — comparable to the famed Lakadong variety of Meghalaya — giving the turmeric its intense golden colour, deep earthy aroma, and distinct warmth.
