About this Product

Kandhamal Turmeric Finger is the whole, unground root form of India's celebrated GI-tagged Kandhamal Haldi from Kandhamal district, Odisha. These dried turmeric rhizomes are harvested from the mineral-rich hill soils of Phulbani and surrounding areas — the same terrain that gives Kandhamal turmeric its naturally high curcumin content, deep golden colour, and strong earthy aroma.

In the whole finger form, all of the turmeric's natural oils, volatile compounds, and active constituents remain intact — making it more potent than pre-ground powder.

Sourced and packed by KASAM (Kandhamal Apex Spices Association for Marketing), a farmer-led body that works with over 60,000 tribal farmers across Kandhamal.

Why Choose Whole Turmeric Fingers

The whole form also allows you to verify the quality and authenticity of the turmeric through its color, texture, and aroma.

Related Products

Grown in the forested hill farms of Kandhamal district, Odisha — a region recognised for its unique agro-climatic conditions that produce turmeric with exceptional curcumin levels. The combination of high altitude, laterite soils, and natural rainfall makes this one of the finest turmeric-growing zones in India.

The GI tag, received in 2019, protects the authenticity of this origin — meaning only turmeric grown in Kandhamal under these specific conditions can bear the name. Learn more about GI-tagged products of Odisha.

Pure. Traditional. Naturally Better.

Turmeric rhizomes are cultivated over 8–9 months in the hill farms of Kandhamal using traditional farming practices. After manual harvesting, the fingers are cleaned, boiled (cured) as per the local method, and spread out for natural sun-drying over multiple days.

The dried whole fingers are then cleaned, sorted, and packed at source — no grinding, no additives, no chemical polishing. This minimal processing is what keeps the root in its most potent natural state.

Everyday Uses

  • Grind fresh at home for maximum potency
  • Traditional Ayurvedic and medicinal preparations
  • Boil in milk for haldi doodh (golden milk)
  • Use whole in pickles and preserves

Store in a cool, dry, airtight container away from moisture and sunlight. Whole fingers last longer than powder — up to 12 months from packing when stored properly.
